Hey guys!

This "tema" is for those people who would like to communicate with each other exclusively in English. Please write in plain simple English, but don't be afraid to make mistakes. Use of Russian words, "surjik" and wrong grammar is all right, but try to keep your comments as simple as possible to help us understand you bettr (better)

Okay, let's get to know you first! Please share something about yourself, the city you live and the things you like or dislike. You can share real facts about yourself or you can make things up. For example, you may write a fictional (or not real) story pretending you’re someone else, maybe someone you always wanted to be. Please don’t be shy and get started now!

Yeah, I know... speaking not native language may be quite an unpleasant and even embarrassing experience. Still, many “narodnosti”, like people coming from India do not shy to speak their “bad” English. They learn English faster because “oni ne compleksuyut” :) Keep smiling, keep going and don’t give up - your efforts will pay off to make you not only more successful, but even a happier immigrant!!

Yes, there are. I suggest to keep this thread alive, as learning American English may be quite essential for adaptation. Suggest to start sharing some typical american idioms. Just recently I learned "huffing and puffing", meaning being unsatisfied and express you dissatisfaction. Or "Joe Shmoe" - a random guy ("Any Joe Shmoe can come and say that he is you, that's why I need your ID")

Totally support the topic as I've been having too much difficulties switching from Russian to English - I still directly translate Russian constructs into English and that often does not sound well :(
